Playstation plans for Crucial Crew Interactive
10 Apr 2003
York Multimedia has teamed up with York-based video games experts Revolution Software to build a Playstation2 video game based on the Crucial Crew theme.
"It''s great to be involved in a project which informs and educates kids on such an important subject, said Charles Cecil, managing director of Revolution, which also makes the Who Wants to be a Millionaire game and Broken Sword series.
"The challenge for us is to bring our expertise to make community safety issues appealing and exciting to kids and to foster appropriate and safe responses in the event that a young person faces a real crisis."
The York Multimedia / Revolution collaboration has already attracted £50k funding from Yorkshire Forward for a pilot game, with additional funding in the pipeline for a full game for national release. The project has also been supported by Creation Network and Safer York Partnership.
"We reckon every schoolchild in the country will be playing Crucial Crew on the internet or on Playstation before long," said James Houston. "It''s a very exciting project for us and for York."
